The adoption of artificial intelligence has exposed alarming gaps in policies, governance and training of digital trust professionals. These deficiencies underscore the urgent need for organizations to equip their workforce with the necessary AI skills.

In ISACA's 2024 AI Reality survey, which polled over 3,200 respondents, 35% of respondents said they need AI training within the next six months, and over 80% said they will need AI training in the next two years, said Brennan P. Baybeck, ISACA Board vice chair and senior vice president and CISO for customer success services at Oracle Corp.

"What people need to think about is: Is not just for technical people or people that are working with technology. When we look at how AI is being used, it's all over the place," Baybeck said. "Training also is part of the bigger governance program. The governance and the policy should come first, and then you can establish the training based on those policies."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Baybeck also discussed:

  • ISACA's plans to provide training resources to bridge the AI skills gaps;
  • Balancing the risks and value proposition of AI adoption;
  • AI's potential to up-level careers by automating menial tasks such as documentation and compliance testing.

Baybeck leads a global team that addresses IT security risk management for one of the largest lines of business at Oracle. He is also responsible for leading security, privacy and availability for customer-facing services, including Oracle’s Managed Security Services.
